Denmark and China reaffirm strong maritime partnership

Published 27-01-2026

China and Denmark have reaffirmed their longstanding and constructive cooperation in the maritime sector, built on trust, shared interests, and complementary strengths. Both countries share a strong commitment to improving maritime safety and reducing the climate and environmental impacts of global shipping.

Denmark and China have a common interest in the green transition of shipping, where respective areas of expertise reinforce each other. Chinese and Danish companies are well positioned to benefit from this transition by developing innovative solutions and creating new business opportunities.

Both sides recognize that green shipping is essential to achieving global climate goals while supporting trade, economic growth, and resilient supply chains. China and Denmark emphasize that shipping is global by nature and stress the importance of predictable international regulation aligned with the IMO Greenhouse Gas Strategy adopted in 2023. This approach will ensure a level playing field and avoid fragmented regional measures.

Both sides look forward to further strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation.
